The Planning Act requires that permission (consent) be granted before a parcel of land can be divided (severed) to create a new lot. This applies to single lots and subdivisions.
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville approves all severances in our area. The Township is considered a commenting agency in the consent/severance process and our main goal is to make sure your plans conform to the Township's official plan and zoning by-law.
To assist with your severance application, our staff can process the application without you appearing before Council. This delegated authority is described in By-law 14-017.
