Looking to change the usage of your property? Think you might want to convert your business to a residential home?
If you want to use or develop your property in a way that conflicts with the Official Plan, we encourage you to talk with our Planning department first. The official plan amendment process can take six months or more to complete.
Next steps:
- Complete a Pre-consultation request and our Planning department will connect with you;
- Contact regulatory agencies if necessary, to discuss your plan;
- With Planning department support, submit an Official Plan Amendment form along with applicable planning fees;
- When advised by our Planning department, attend a public meeting at our municipal office where your plan is submitted to Council for consideration, approval, denial or deferral;
- After Council's decision is made, your plan is sent to the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville for consideration; and
- Once a decision is made there is a 20 business-day appeal period after the date of the notice of decision is given. Appeals can be made to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT). If there are no appeals the decision is final and binding on the 21st day after the date of the notice of decision is given.
