Tell us about yourself! Hobbies? Fun facts? How did you get started?
David and I moved back to the seventh-generation farm to help his mother and we decided to market garden again, as his family had previously market gardened and enjoyed it. We started selling at the Lansdowne Country Market and were hoping to sell from the farm, but quickly realized we needed to go to the people. At market, our jams, jellies and preserves were the bulk of our earnings, so we decided to put more energy into this area. Our business name was a nod to our historic one lane stone bridge in beautiful Lyndhurst.
Define your business in your own words.
Our business is gourmet jams, jellies, and preserves all made by us sourcing locally produced fruits and vegetables wherever possible. We are proud producers of Beer Belly Jelly, a jelly for your cheese and cracker tray and made from Gananoque Brewing Companies beer and King’s Town Brewery.
What business achievement are you most proud of?
We are especially proud of our Beer Belly Jelly, trademark pending, and seeing it on store shelves. We have gotten a lot of great responses from people on a lot of our products and it makes it all worthwhile for us. We are proudest of our relationships we have developed with our customers, local farmers and our community.
Why did you choose Leeds and the Thousand Islands to start your business?
David grew up in this area and spent his whole life here, his family has had this farm for seven generations. We have experienced first-hand the kindness and sense of community this area offers.
What words would you use to describe Leeds and the Thousand Islands?
It is a beautiful place to live and visit. We love all the water that surrounds us and there is so much to see and do on and off the water. Agriculture, tourism and the local food movement thrive in this area. We eat, sip, shop and enjoy all things local.
Provide a message to your future guests!
We love what we do, the customers we serve and the products we make for you and I believe it shows. Feel free to stop and sample our products, talk and ask questions, as this is what makes the market experience like no other.
